Children are supported to become independent when going to the toilet. They must request /inform an adult that they need to use the toilet through signing, symbols or words.
Children are taught the importance of hygiene and washing their hands thoroughly.
School trips provide an invaluable opportunity to develop children's understanding of male / female toilets and to practice keeping their bodies private when using public restrooms.
TIP: practice toileting at home as if it is a public toilet - support your child to keep their body 100% private. This will help them to keep themselves safe when using public restrooms.
