Week 4 & 5 in Bluebird Class

During the past two weeks we have been very busy! Have a look at some of the activities that we took part in.

Week 1 in Bluebird Class!

Welcome back!

This half-term out topic is Treasure Island! We will take part in different activities related to Pirates, sea and holidays!

In English we will be reading a story called Mrs Pirate and her trip to the shop; we will also make our own shopping list and will walk to Asda to buy the supplies.

We are planning a trip to a Splash Park and lots of different outdoor activities! Make sure to check our class page regularly for photo updates

Cycles of Life

Welcome back!

This half-term we are going to be learning about the cycles of life and children will take part in different art-based activities in order to explore this topic.

In English we are reading the story about The Tiger Who Came to Tea! So far, we have made our own tigers, dressed up as tigers and practised roaring.

As the weather was so nice this week, we have been exploring ice! We placed ice outside to see what happens to it; we used salt and warm water to melt it.

Week 5 in Bluebird Class

This week we have been learning about Chinese culture. We have tried traditional Chinese food, celebrated Chinese New Year and cooked stir fry in cookery.

In math's we have explored the terms heavy and light.

Welcome back!

This half-term our topic is Come Dine with Me!

We will be exploring traditional food from different countries and are hoping to visit McDonald’s, Wigmore Fish and Chips Restaurant and Pizza Hut!

In English we are reading The Farmyard Jamboree story; pupils will learn about different farm animals and will practice rhyming!

Making Snowmen

We have been super busy making snowmen for The Winter Wonderland!

Trip to Poplars & McDonald's

We had a great time at Poplars Garden Centre looking at all the wonderful Christmas displays and then afterwards had lunch at McDonald's

This week we focused on the colour yellow! We have hosted the Year Band Yellow Party.

In maths we were learning about money and how to use coins to pay for our items.

In science we explored materials, focusing on their properties-hot and cold.

Week 2

What a busy week we’ve had!

This week we took part in Bonfire and Diwali related activities: we used sparklers, made Diwali lanterns and created our own mehndi designs during Computing session.

We have also taken part in filming the advert for the Winter Wonderland!

In maths this week we have been exploring the terms long and short and went for w walk to ASDA.

Autumn 2 in Bluebird Class

Welcome back!

This half-term our topic is Over The Rainbow!

Every week we will be learning about a different colour and taking part in fruit and vegetables tasting and art activities based on a specific colour!

In Science we will be looking at different materials and their properties and forces.

In maths we will be looking at money, length, prepositions, time and weight.

In English we are reading The Sleeping Beauty story. We will be using colourful semantics to make sentences and take part in lots of different art based activities!

We will also create our own Sleeping Beauty story in Computing by uploading pictures and adding text!

We are planning on going on to trips this half-term, but we will give you more information regarding this in the next couple of weeks!

Autumn 1

Week 6 Update

This week our focus in maths was Geometry. Some of the children looked at the properties of 2D shapes and others learnt to separate objects into different groups.

In English we focused on writing letter l; we used sensory bags and shaving foam to practise writing.

In topic we have been learning about personal hygiene, we made our own apple teeth!

We have made our own scarecrow for the school competition!

Week 5 Update

This week we have been learning about personal hygiene in topic and science. We did an egg and Coca-Cola experiment and washed our hands following the specific sequence.

In math's we concentrated on number; next week we will be looking at 2D shapes!

On Tuesday we visited our buddy class (Purple Class) at RHS West and explored the new Zip Wire and had a little party!

On Thursday we went to Ashridge Estate and had a great day out exploring in the sunshine!

Week 3 in Bluebird class!

This week our topic was SPORTS! We looked at different sports, matched pictures and named the sports! We enjoyed playing the parachute games outside and attempted to do push-ups!

Welcome to Bluebird class!

There are 9 children and 5 adults in our class.

This half-term our topic is Champions.

We will be taking part in lots of different activities related to the topic: dancing, yoga, biking and lots more!

Our story is Titch and we will make our own kites and fly them high in the sky! We will be using colourful semantics in order to describe pictures and concentrate on answering Who and What doing questions.

In maths, we are going to learn about patterns, capacity, shapes and number in the first 4 weeks.
