Spring 2 Update

Up, Up and Away

The children really enjoyed learning about all sorts of things that fly and float in the air. A highlight for Silver Class was the trip to the Shuttleworth Collection where we looked at old planes and cars; we also enjoyed art workshops and playing in the large park. We have had lots of fun exploring with balloons and bubbles!

Update

Talking Textures

In this topic, we handled lots of different materials, thought about their properties and

also how these materials are used. Cooking was fun because we made a variety of biscuits and used our science vocabulary to describe the textures as we ate them!

In DT we made puppets and even put on a puppet show which we recorded.

Other recorded activities included the Barn Dancing routines we learned, we really enjoyed Square Dancing and Dosi Doing with our partners! Yee harr!

Autumn 1

Johnny Silver

Meet Johnny Silver, the latest addition to Silver Class!

We had a lot of run creating this scarecrow for the competition, his head was made from a balloon covered in paper mache and we thought about 3D shapes when we made his nose from a cone. For his body we cut up lots of black crepe paper using our scissor skills and carefully attached them to a wooden frame.

Unfortunately we didn't win the competition but we think Johnny Silver is the best!

Whipsnade Zoo

As part of our 'lets go wild' topic we went to Whipsnade Zoo and really enjoyed seeing lots of the animals, we had a fabulous day out!

Cookery

We have used different preparation skills to get ingredients ready for a variety of vegetable burgers which have been delicious!  We have come up with our own recipe and will be putting this to the test at the end of term for the burger bake off!

Maths

In our maths lessons we have been working hard and thought about solving problems in measure (money), shape and number.

Autumn 1

Hello there!

In Silver class we are:

Siobhan (Teacher), Nicola (TA2), Sam, Sadie and Rebecca (TA1)

Children: Alisha, Ellis, Gabriel, Jadon, Lionel, Prajith, Rhia, Subhaan and Waseem.

This half term our topic is ‘Let’s go wild!’ the children will look at a range of text linked to different habitats eg. Woodland, ocean, desert, jungle/rainforest, Arctic and dinosaurs/extinct animals so any fiction or non-fiction books/films you can share with your children on these areas will help to broaden their understanding as well. Our reading, writing and speaking and listening lesson activities in literacy will be stimulated by these texts. The children will also do phonic lessons on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and will have the opportunity to be heard read a couple of times a week.

Maths lessons will be taught on a rolling rota of measure, number and geometry.

ICT will involve mark making and drawing and in Art/DT the children will create animals using some different styles and techniques inspired by various artists.

They will continue to be active gardeners and enjoy sampling the fruits of their labours! In cookery lessons this term the children will be making different kinds of burgers, we will also be having a burger bake off to be judged by the School Council and Jill!

As you can see we have a lot planned not to mention an exciting day out at Whipsnade Zoo, there is much for your child to do, learn and most importantly enjoy!
