Hello and welcome back!

Autumn 1

Labeling Body Parts

Hello and welcome to Swan class. Let me introduce you to my team… I am Angela the class teacher, Lisa is my TA2 and our teaching assistants are Helen and Louise. The pupils in Swan class are Nojus, Kamran, Yusuf, Maryam, Kieran, Shahwaiz, Sharjeel and Ayaan. We are very much looking forward to a fun filled, exciting and busy year. The pupils are beginning to form positive relationships with their peers and support staff.

We have two P.E sessions a week, these are Mondays and Wednesdays. Maisy is our P.E teacher; she introduces pupils to new skills which are practised throughout the term, these skills are then put into practice when she finishes the lessons with team games, competitions or performances.

In Swan class I try to encourage the pupils to develop their independence skills. They follow a visual timetable which allows them to be ready for the next lessons and retrieve the equipment they need to complete the tasks given.

We visit Asda supermarket once a week so the children can develop their maths skills, independence skills and social skills. Whilst in Asda we encourage the pupils to use the self-service checkout and find the correct coins to pay for their item. As part of our walk to Asda we focus on road safety, following instructions, crossing the roads safely and identifying different road signs and crossings.

This term we will be exploring the topic ‘champions’. This topic will provide the pupils with lots of opportunities to take part in physical activities and keeping fit and healthy. We will be learning about our bodies, naming body parts, moving our bodies, keeping ourselves clean and healthy. The pupils will experience different activities including yoga, zumba, rounders and football.
