Summer 2

Summer 2 Blurb

Our topic this half term is Fun in the Sun and to start this off all of year 6 went on a picnic in the local area. We had such fun eating different picnic food and playing games together. We had an amazing time at Dunstable Splash Park where we explored and played in the different water jets, fountains and hoses.  We had our packed lunch which we ate in the cafe, after lunch we all chose a treat from the cafe. There is a super wooden play area next to the splash park and we had great fun climbing, swinging and sliding.

In English we are enjoying the story The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. We have done roleplay pretending to be the lighthouse keeper and the seagulls. We all worked really hard to answer questions about the story and we all followed instructions to make a lighthouse.

Next Half Term

We are looking forward to next half terms topic which is called Great, Great Britain; our curriculum maps will be coming home soon where you will be able to see our forthcoming learning.

Gold Class Update

Wow! What a busy half term we have had. In our Black Culture topic the children really enjoyed learning about Rosa Parks and they all did a fantastic job when role playing the story of Rosa on the bus. They all wrote their own dream in the style of Martin Luther King and they have experienced a range of music including African drumming, Motown, rap and Gospel.

English

In English the children have really enjoyed the story The Giant Jam Sandwich. They have ordered instructions, made up their own instructions and did some great work involving story maps.

Autumn 2 Update

We have had a great start to Autumn 2 so far! check out our photos below.

Hello and welcome

The second half of the Autumn term is super exciting with lots of learning activities to look forward to.

In English we will be reading the traditional tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and will be using our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to carry out a range of activities such as character profiles, writing lists, making up a potion and role play.  We are very lucky to have a theatre trip booked to go and see the Snow White pantomime. Then we will be doing our very own performance of the story which you will be invited to come and watch.

Our topic this half term is ‘Winter Wildlife.  We will be learning all about different Winter wildlife animals, looking at their diet, habitats, appearance and features to help them survive.

The children and adults in Gold class are very excited about their new project which is to run a tuck shop for the rest of the school. We have already done our first trip to Asda to buy healthy snacks to sell. In Maths we worked out our prices and made price labels and posters. Please check on our web page regularly as photos of our tuck shop will be soon available for you to look at.

Hello and welcome to Gold Class and a new exciting school year. My name is Anita and I am the class teacher. Sadie is ourTA2 and our TA's are Pauline, Michelle and Alice.

There are 8 children in Gold Class and they are all very happy to be back at school, keen and ready to learn.

Our topic this half term is Fit as a Fiddle - we will be learning all about keeping fit and healthy and living a healthy lifestyle. We will be learning about the human body and the effects of exercise and healthy eating. The children will participate in a range of physical activities and will be carrying out related creative activities in DT/Art.

In the cookery, the children will be following recipes to make a variety of fajitas using a range of healthy produce.

We will be reading Paddington in English and once they have carried out a range of fun activities linked to the story, I hope the children feel inspired to make up their own story about a lost bear.

In maths, we will be covering a different strand each week - Number, Geometry and Measure. Keep looking at our web page for updated photos of our learning.

In computing, this half-term pupils will be marked making. This will enable them to use a range of programmes to be creative and produce some fantastic work.

Our class page will be updated regularly, so we hope you check in to share in our learning journey. I am very much looking forward to meeting you at Meet the Teacher in a few weeks time.
