Children in Need 2020

Hello and welcome back.

I hope you have all had a fantastic, restful half term.

Please see our curriculum map for this half term which will give you some information on what we are covering in class over the next 7 weeks.

Please do call or email if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Sapna and the Peacock Class team.

We wore yellow clothes, had a yellow disco, made a happy hands group poster and talked about what makes us feel happy.

Walk in the local area

We went on our first local area walk this morning. The children were all very excited to go and listened carefully to the adults when we were near roads.

Autumn 1

Please find below our curriculum map for this term.

Welcome to our Peacock Class page

I hope everybody enjoyed their Summer and kept safe and well. My name is Sapna and I am the class teacher. We also have Helen (TA3), Rachel (TA1) and Sam (TA1). On Wednesday and Thursdays we also have Kelly (HLTA). It has been lovely to see the children back in class, we are already having so much fun and getting back into a routine.

Peacock class is a ‘shoots’ class and we follow a semi – formal curriculum.  It is a life skills based curriculum, developing personal independence and continuing to build on communication.  Children will continue to build upon learning to learn skills, able to attend, play and self-occupy for extending periods of time.

The children are happy to be back at school and are already following our routines and structures very well.

Our English book this half term is The train ride.

Climb aboard for a rhythmic train ride through the country. There's lots to see and someone very special waiting at the end!

A little girl and her mother board the train in town and set off on a journey through the countryside. As they travel, the girl looks out of the window, asking "What shall I see? What shall I see?" And what does she see? Sheep, cows, horses and much more!

We have lots of exciting props to explore when reading the book.  We will complete lots of English activities linked to this lovely story speaking and listening, writing, reading , ICT and craft activities.

In Maths we will be spending a week studying the following areas money, number, measure, using and applying and positional language.

In PSHE we will be following a recovery curriculum that is designed to support the children’s return to full time school after such a long time away.  We will be following guidelines to keep our class Covid secure.

Our Topic this half term is ‘All about me’ and each week we are studying a different area including likes and dislikes, friends, family, senses and body parts. Our assemblies will be linked to these areas.

Cookery this half term we will be based around making sandwiches and the fillings will include jam, tuna and cucumber, marmite, soft cheese and chocolate spread.

We will not be going out on any trips this half term as our focus is settling the children back into school; however we will have walks in the local community.

PE with Owen will be on a Tuesday and Wednesday and Expressive Arts will be with Coral on a Tuesday.

We will not have home school link books at the moment and I will contact you via email or telephone.  Please email any questions or information to me at Peacock@richmondhill.luton.sch.uk
