We are a class with nine children; AJ, Bradley, Dhruv, Eashal, Hasnain, Ibrahim, Imran, Jahnairo and Rejaul. The teachers are Rachel (Mon, Tues) Sarah (Wed, Thurs and Fri), Nicola is the TA2 and supporting us are Jaimi, Janice and Natalie.

Summer 2
Opal Class have had a wonderful start to the summer term, this term we look forward to consolidating our learning from this year and enjoying lots of fun and sun as part of our Fun in the Sun Topic.
In literacy we are reading the texts Afraid of the Dark, Giraffes Can't Dance and Monkey Puzzle.
Topic will revolve around planning and running a summer fete, watch this space for invites!
Cookery will be again focusing on life skills and the children will be making sandwiches, cakes, and party food to eat and sell at the fete.
PSHE will be preparing the children for their move to their new school. We will be talking about emotions and feelings, choices and sharing and changing and transition.

Summer 1
We are very happy to welcome the children back this summer and the lovely weather has helped get us in the mood for our topic Water, Water Everywhere.
This term our topic is Water. In the pictures below we were learning how lucky we are to have easy access to water, and how in other countries people do not have this privilege.

This term our topic is Rule Britannia. We will be spending a week each on England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Our cookery is based on our topic. We will be wearing different colour t-shirts to assembly and a letter will go home about this each week. In PSHE we will be learning about stranger danger. Science will be based on materials, and our literacy will be all based on Paddington Bear.

In Opal Class this term our topic is Kings and Queens.
In literacy we are looking at traditional tales and 'loiter with a story'. We will be studying two texts this half term, the Emperors New Clothes and the Princess and The Pea.
In topic we are looking at kings and queens, musical instruments, knights and castles and will celebrate the end of topic with a ball before we begin Christmas.
In science we are learning about light and sound.
Cookery is topic based and we will be making lots of exciting things such as pea soup, jam tarts and jelly castles.
In ICT we are using the computers to make things which will end in us making and designing our own moving car!

We have had a very busy but successful half term. We have enjoyed all of our Christmas celebrations, some lovely trips and lots of hard work.
Next term our topic is We all go travelling by. We hope to be looking at many different types of transport and even going on some. We will look at journeys around our school, journeys by air; rail, road and water.
In ICT we are making our own interactive books that we will print paper copies for you to have.
Our cookery is based on our local community and we will be cooking different types of food including; Italian, Asian, Caribbean, Polish, Chinese and of course British!
Have a lovely Christmas holiday and we look forward to all the joys 2015 will bring to Opal Class.

Our topic this term is Fit as a Fiddle and updates will be put on the website.
