We had the best day at Woburn Safari Park, look at all the fantastic animals we got to see - they were so close! It was a lovely sunny day to spend with our friends.
Thank you to all of our Mums and Dads for supporting our trips this year.

We loved all of the opportunities we had to be superheroes this half term. We were pulling, pushing, spinning, rolling and using all of our forces and super-powers to save the day! We also got to meet spider man!

In science we thought about biology and learnt about humans and different animals. Emma was kind enough to bring her pets, a tortoise named Kevin and a dog named Jack, to school to meet us.
We also, had some amazing visitors in the form of three owls who came to assembly! Look at some of us being brave enough to meet the owl!
Balloons
As part of our topic we thought about balloons and how they go up up up, but once we had played a balloon race all we cared about was watching them zoom across the floor.

We have been learning how to make predictions, carry out and write up experiments - including exploring what happened when we dyed the water for our plants. We made some fantastic predictions and some of us were able to guess why we got our results and explain! Wow!
Snow
Look how much fun we had exploring in the snow!
Topic
We have done all sorts in topic recently but it was lovely to see the concentration when we tried out weaving for ourselves.
Maths
We have been working hard in maths and thinking about weight and size and how we measure different objects.
Christmas
On the very last day of term we had our own lovely little celebration. The boys had so much fun and played so beautifully together.

We had great fun exploring shadows as part of our topic, making puppet theatres and taking silhouette pictures - Can you guess who is who?
Science
Sapphire Class have been thinking about fizzing and popping in science to coincide with bonfire night and we tested out our own little chemical reactions using alkalines (bicarbonate of soda) and acid (coloured vinegar).
Lots of mini eruptions and fizzing sounds.
Maths
We have been working really hard in maths this half term but our shape work was really amazing and made the grown-ups very proud!
The Zoo!
We loved our trip to the zoo and seeing all the animals – but some of us were just as happy to pose for the camera! We saw elephants and lions and giraffes and finally made it out to the penguins to make one member of sapphire class very happy indeed. We also had the chance to go to a workshop where we could look at different animal skins and even stroke a real snake! There were lots of happy faces and tired feet by the time we got back on the bus!
Working hard
Sapphire Class have been working very hard all half term on lots of different skills and activities, from English and maths, to all of our topic work thinking about animals and where they live all over the world. Have a look at just some of the things we have been getting up to!

Our class is made up of seven fantastic children and five lovely grown-ups (Claire our teacher, Emily our TA2 and Vicky, Harry and Amelia). All seven of the boys in Sapphire Class have lots to say and we are looking forward to a great year together.
This half term our topic is “Let’s Go Wild” and it gives us the opportunity to learn about all sorts of different wild animals and their habitats. We have already made explorer jackets and binoculars so we are well prepared for our trip to the zoo to see the animals in real life!
In English, we have been reading “Star Party” from the Tilly and Friends series on CBeebies. We have been learning the names of the characters and practising our reading and phonics skills.
Please come back soon to see all the things we have been getting up to!
