Summer 2 crafts

Here is a picture of some of the craft activities we have completed in topic and attention skills stage 4. 

Summer 1 - On the farm

Our topic this half term is 'on the farm'. Below is a link to the curriculum map for this half term. 

Write dance

In write dance, we have been exploring making marks including circles, dots, horizontal and vertical lines to music. The music links with our story we are exploring which this half term are Jaspers bean stalk and the blue balloon. 

Attention maths - week 3

We have been exploring using cause and effect toys during attention maths.

Week 3 - Dough disco

In dough disco, we use our fine motor skills to squeeze,

pinch and roll the dough to music.

Week 2 - PSHE

This week in PSHE we have been learning about people who keep us safe. We have been learning about policemen, nurses & doctors and firemen. We have been exploring dressing up as these people and playing with the vehicles they drive.

Week 2 - Maths

This week we have been exploring filling up containers with flour & emptying the flour out. We also practised pouring glitter into a small plastic glass and emptying the glitter onto the paper to create a picture. We have also been exploring representing the numbers 1 and 2 and building a tower using bricks.

 

Maths week 1

We have been exploring cause & effect toys. We have also been exploring grouping objects which are similar together and making quantities to show numbers 1 and 2. 

Social interaction 

We have been exploring new objects in social interaction. We have been practicing listening to instructions e.g. put the eggs on the basket, completing wooden jigsaw puzzles and matching pictures of colours when asked to 'find the same'. 

Spring 2

Topic - over the rainbow

In topic this half term we have been exploring a different colour each week. Here are some pictures of us exploring the different colours and completing craft activities. 

Cookery Autumn 2

We have been exploring making short crust tarts. We have made apricot jam tarts this week.

Sensory Story week 6

We have continued to explore our story 'The gingerbread man'. We have been practicing requesting colours using a core board and sticking our chosen colours to make a suncatcher gingerbread man. We used coloured cellophane and a laminating sheet. They are displayed on our door to our outside play area. 

Maths week 6

We have been exploring matching 2D shapes and handling 2D shapes using a sensory tray. 

Maths Monday week 5 - Matching familiar symbols

Today we have been exploring matching familiar symbols and exploring numbers 1 to 9. 

Maths week 4 - Matching 2D shapes

We have been exploring independently matching 2D shapes using a shoe box task to support our learning. 

Topic week 4 - Light and dark

This week we have been exploring light an dark. We have been requesting colours and painting with neon paint using paintbrushes. We have also been making silhouette paintings using bright paints and sticking a gingerbread man silhouette onto our paintings. We have been exploring as well using torches with sensory objects in the dark. 

Topic week 3

Shadows

We have been exploring creating shadows using lollipop puppets and light behind a screen. The children chose on the first their animals and explored making shadows with the puppets and on the second lesson we explored identifying shadow characters from our story 'the gingerbread man' using symbols. The children also explored creating shadows with their torches in a sensory tray experience. The children enjoyed using the torches against the objects in their trays. 

Maths week 3

We have been exploring 2D shapes & handling different shapes. We have also been sorting triangles and squares & making pictures with shapes. 

Children in Need 2020

For children in need, we decorating pudsey using bingo dabbers & we decorated rich tea biscuits. We also dressed up in PJ's, yellow or spots. 

Maths week 3

We have been sorting big and small objects through a shoe box task.

Sensory Story week 3

This week we have continued to explore and learn about our new story 'The Gingerbread Man'. This week we have been using our PEC's to choose colours to decorate characters from the story. We have requested coloured bingo dabbers to colour a chicken and coloured cotton wool buds to colour our pigs. We have also been using symbols and farm animal toys to learn the names of some of the farm animals in the story. 

Dough Disco week 2

We have continued to develop our fine motor skills by joining in with dough disco. We have been learning to poke, pinch, roll and squeeze the dough with our hands. We have also been using rolling pins and different cutters to make marks during choosing at the end of the session. 

Maths Week 1

This week in maths we have been learning to make quantities up to the number 4 using cupcake cases and pompoms. We have also been learning about sorting and grouping objects which are the same together e.g. all the plastic food in the basket and all the dinosaurs on the grass. 

Autumn 2

 Our topic this half term is 'Let there be light' We will be exploring a variety of topics linked to light such as building dens, shadows, light and dark and day and night. This is outlined briefly in our curriculum map which you will see below. This week we have been focusing on fire works as it is bonfire night on the 5th November. The children have enjoyed completing crafts linked to fire works and exploring sensory trays. 

 

We have 2 books this half term. For the first 6 weeks we will be exploring The Gingerbread man and learning about different farm animals within the story. The last week we will be exploring 'Dear Santa' and what presents are received within the story.

We have been practicing grouping similar objects together. 

Sensory story week 7

We have been exploring making marks using different tools this week including our finger prints, cotton wool buds and pencils. We have also been matching pictures of familiar characters from our story we have been focusing on when asked 'who'.

We have been learning a multiple of concepts using shoe box tasks. We have been practicing to independently complete familiar activities.

Welcome to Woodpecker Class

Hello and welcome back to school after quite a long break. My name is Dawn-Rose and I am the class teacher for Woodpecker class this year. We have 1 TA 3 who is Margaret and 2 TA's Nicola and Paige. There are 6 boys and 1 girl in Woodpecker class and they are settling in well. Our topic this half term is 'All about me' as set out in our recovery curriculum to support the children settling back into school life.  We will be exploring a variety of topics such as hygiene, our bodies and faces, emotions, our senses, physical and building relationships. This is outlined briefly in our curriculum map. This week we have been focusing on hygiene and the importance of washing our hands and teeth. 

 

We have 2 books this half term. For the first 4 weeks we will be exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learning a little about the lifecycle of a caterpillar. The next 4 weeks we will be exploring Silly Suzy Goose and learning about the different animals within the story.
