Introduction To RHS Values
Richmond Hill School is a caring, focused and adaptable environment which caters to each child’s different needs and nurtures them to be the best they can be. As part of this we have introduced and adapted values based learning. We are at the beginning of our values journey which is being embedded throughout the school. Learning and understanding key values and how they impact them as a person, in their everyday life and interactions is important for everyone, but particularly the children at our school.
The values aim to:
Improve behaviour and co-operation
Develop understanding of the importance of values
Integrate values into our PSHE curriculum
Develop pupil self-awareness, pride and responsibility for their actions
Build pupil confidence and resilience
At Richmond Hill we teach 12 values over a 2 year period (1 per half term). How and when the value is taught is at the discretion of each class so that lessons, activities and resources are personalised to each child. Every other week in year band assemblies each class nominates a values role-model, and gives a reason of how they have demonstrated that value. Each values role model receives a badge that they can keep. Values and the appropriate language are promoted throughout every day school life.
Our values badges have arrived. Each badge is coloured differently and represents a seperate value. The values we focus on are shown above on our two yearly rota.
