  • Work at the E-Learning Centre

    Mon 31 Mar 2014

Emerald and Amber class have today visited the e-learning centre.

Emerald class were going to act out their pirate story which they had written and made story boards for. They will be videoing and using a green screen, which will allow them to put any background they want on it and look like they are there.

As soon as their work has been edited it will be put on to Richmond Hill TV.

Elearning@luton is Luton's Town Learning Centre with a focus on music technology, digital imaging and animation and their uses throughout the curriculum.

  • The Last 5 Days in Review

As always it's been a busy week with trips out and about and all sorts of things going on in school.

Years 3 & 4 visited the Fun Factory (you can see a video of this on Richmond Hill TV here

    Years 5 & 6 had a 1980's party.

The grown ups got some good refresher training from Shirley and Angela on Wednesday.

Aga came in for our music sessions and choir.

Classes went swimming to either Inspire or LZW.

The Quad outside Red and Purple class had it's grass taken up and replaced with astro turf. You can see photos of this here

Diamond Class used the Bee-bots in their ICT lesson. (read about and see photos of us using the Bee-bots here)

John has been teaching us all how to dance hip-hop style (yo, respect)

We got given a Raspberry Pi, (read about it here) which is exciting and both the grown ups and children will be learning how to use it together and finding out what it can do.

The school council have met and will take charge of emptying the compost bins for classes.

We have done our daily power walks and sensory circuits that help us get ready to work in the classroom.

Also this week it was Jill's birthday. Jill bought loads of chocolate biscuits for the grown ups which went down very well!

  • In the News

    Thu 27 Mar 2014

We found ourselves in the Luton news today talking about our mile walk for sports relief.

I have re-assembled the article, only using the bits about us!

  • Quad Redevelopment

    Wed 26 Mar 2014

This week has seen the quad outside Purple and Red class have a make over.

A new wider path has been laid and the grass removed so astro turf can take it's place.

The area will be less muddy and just an all round better environment for the children to play and learn in.

  • Richmond Hill TV

    Tue 25 Mar 2014

We take a lot of photos and videos in school which we make into slideshows and videos. The children love to see themselves on screen and it acts as a reminder of an event or activity they have taken part in.

As parents, families and carers you can view these videos on a secure website which requires a log in and password. Only those with log in details will be able to view the videos.

You can get to the videos via the 'interactive' button on our website and Achlan has made a video tutorial of how to log in and start viewing.

  • Making Play Dough

Tue 18 Mar 2014 Green Class
Today Green class made their own play dough, and would like to share the recipe with all the Richmond Hill parents, as it was so easy. And as a bonus, it smells lovely!

All you need is a bottle of cheap coconut conditioner, and some cornflour.

Put about five tablespoons of conditioner into a bowl. Gradually add cornflour a spoon at a time (the recipe uses a US cup of cornflour, but we found it better to add a bit at a time and if it gets too dry, add a tiny bit more conditioner). The mixture looks slightly dry at the perfect point, but use your hands to knead it into perfectly soft and fragrant dough. If it's too sticky, add more cornflour.

We added a few drops of food colouring once it was made, and the children watched it ripple into the dough as they played with it.

    Have fun!

  • Pearl class BeeBots work
