    RELAXED PERFORMANCE

    RAPUNZEL - A tangled pantomime

    Dear friend,

The award winning local amateur society The Griffin Players are proud to announce that they will be presenting a RELAXED PERFORMANCE of their ever popular annual children’s pantomime.

This year the Griffin Players are thrilled to returning to the Library Theatre in central Luton to present Rapunzel: a tangled pantomime. Featuring lots of current popular music as well as traditional classics, the large cast and live band promise to entertain you and create a spectacle that will capture your imagination.

We are proud to be the first local society to present a Relaxed Performance, which we hope will be the first of many.

We are liaising with local and national autism societies and organisations to ensure that we make this theatrical experience as enjoyable and accessible as possible for our special audience.

Features of our relaxed performances are:

    • No pyrotechnics or loud bangs
    • Reduced sound levels for band
    • Low level auditorium lighting throughout the performance
    • Free movement in and out of the auditorium
    • Chill out areas accessible throughout the show
    • A Visual Story Journey booklet will be available to download prior to your visit
    • Reduced capacity of the auditorium to allow space to move around

Our family pantomime will run from Saturday 14th January 2017 until Sunday 22nd January 2017, with our special one-off Relaxed Performance taking place on Saturday 21st January at 11.00am.

  • Side by Side Exhibition

    Fri 18 Nov 2016
Side by Side was our first whole school Art/Design Project that took place during our Expressive Arts sessions throughout the term.

The aim was for every class to source something to sit on (chairs, stalls, a bench, deck chairs….anything goes) and then design and decorate the chair.

Free expression has been encouraged so the design themes have been incredibly imaginative and in the hands of our children.

Once again the School's commitment to creativity was very much at the heart of this project, proving 'Creativity (really does) matter'.

On Friday the 18th November we held the launch of 'Side by Side' where every class took part in a celebratory chair swap that took the form of a huge game of musical chairs.

Side by Side not only celebrates the creativity at Richmond Hill School but it also connects the children at Richmond Hill West and our newly opened Richmond Hill East, encouraging sharing and friendship.

We were delighted to welcome parents and the children at neighbouring Wigmore School to see the Side by Side exhibition.

Huge thanks goes to the School Council Voice representatives from Richmond Hill East and West who represented their classes on the day.

You can see a picture of each chair on the school council voice webpage

Opal Class have been using different tools to help with their handwriting skills. They used carrots to write with, cut cucumbers and transferred soil from a pot to a thin tube.

These activities get the children using their fine motor skills which will over time help and improve their muscle control and pencil grip.

  • Green Class - Brown Bear, Brown Bear Story - Update

    Thu 17 Nov 2016

UPDATE: Yesterday we proudly shared our display picture of Brown Bear, Brown Bear on Twitter and we received 2 replies.

The first one was from the Carle Museum, which is dedicated to the author Eric Carle (who wrote the story) and the other reply was from MacMillan Kids Books who are celebrating the story being 50 years old! You can see both replies below.

    A message from Green Class

The children are really enjoying our Brown Bear story and our colour activities. We have made a beautiful display of collage animals from the story, and the children have been able to label each creature with the symbols for its colour and animal name.
